Living Leviticus
We’re continuing to work our way through the numerous and complex laws of Leviticus as a church, on our two-year journey through the entire Bible.
One question that will likely repeatedly occur to you is: why does any of this matter for me? I don’t worship at a tabernacle, I don’t offer burnt offerings, so why does this matter for me? David Fenton offered a good example on his blog just a couple days ago of how to apply Leviticus to ourselves.
It was the impulse to really understand Leviticus, and its relevance for modern-day Christians, that led a group of about twenty people at Park Street Church in Boston to attempt to live the book of Leviticus for one month in 2008. They called this the ‘Leviticus Challenge.’ To read more about their experiment, click here.
Meanwhile, keep reading Leviticus. And if you have a few spare hours in the next couple weeks, read the book of Hebrews. After reading Leviticus, what Hebrews says about Jesus will spring alive in your mind and heart in a fresh and powerful way.
