Psalms Sweeter the Second Time
Today in the PCF Bible Reading Plan, we finished our second pass through the Psalms by reading Psalm 150.
I have to confess: as we started the reading plan in January, going through the Psalms (and Proverbs) in addition to the other reading seemed like a chore. I’m not sure why this was. Perhaps it was too may changes to my habits at once. Maybe it took time to the pace of reading we were doing. But I trudged my way through the Psalms during the first part of the year.
The second time through has been completely different. Reading the Psalms every day has been a wonderful experience. They have lifted my heart, and made me think great things about our God. I look forward to the second time through Proverbs.
I know that some people have not been reading the Psalms and Proverbs along with the rest of the reading. I would like to encourage you to add them into your daily reading when we start pass 3 through the Psalms in January. I’ve often heard of many great men and women of God who disciplined themselves to read a Psalm every day for encouragement. I’m starting to feel like I understand why.
