Praise God: a milestone for the Witmers

I’m praising God. This morning at 7.45am, Emma and I completed a project we’ve been working on for four years. We finished reading and praying through Operation World.

This book is a treasure trove. It contains information on every country in the world, with items to praise God for and things we should be praying for that country. God has used Operation World powerfully to kindle and sustain in us a vision for what he is doing around the world. We take a new country each morning, learn a bit about it, and then pray for a few of the items listed. Nothing elaborate. It usually takes about 3-4 minutes.

But do that for four years, for every country in the world, and see if your heart isn’t more invested by the time you finish.

There is a new, updated version of Operation World coming out in September-October of this year. We’re anticipating it and will be ready by that point to start in again, this time bringing Samuel (and a little daughter) along with us on a trek around the world, discovering God’s purposes and joining him in those purposes as we pray.
