Thanking God for Annie Rose Witmer!
We’re thanking God for the safe birth of our daughter, Annie Rose Witmer, at 12.01 this morning! Annie weighs 7 pounds, 6 ounces. She is 20 inches long. According to Psalm 127.3, she is a gift from God to us — and that’s how we’re receiving her. Emma was amazing, is doing well, and is now the world’s leading advocate for epidurals.
God is so super-abundantly kind to us. Let me tell you of his special care and blessing to us in this situation. Annie is named after her great-grandmother, my grandmother on my father’s side, Anne Elizabeth Witmer. Anne Witmer is one of the most godly, joy-filled, Christ-centered, Bible-loving people we know. She’s full of life and energy and passion for God. We long for our Annie to be the kind of spunky, fun, courageous woman of God her namesake is.
So, here’s the cool part and the special blessing. My grandmother Anne Witmer was born 82 years ago today, July 12. And our daughter Annie Witmer was born at 12.01 am this morning, July 12. As the clock ticked closer, both Emma and I thought how amazing it would be for Annie to be born on her great-grandmother’s birthday. God timed it exactly. The first contraction Emma had on July 12 was literally at 12.01am, and she pushed Annie Rose Witmer into the world.
May Annie send down deep roots into God’s Word and flourish like a leafy, fruit-bearing tree all her days (Psalm 1). May she live for the enduring name and everlasting renown of the Lord (Psalm 135.13).
Thank you, Lord, for blessing us beyond what we deserve and beyond what we expect.
