Will you pass muster at the final judgment?

Here’s one of the most important questions you’ll ever need to answer: when you stand before God on judgment day, what will he say? Where will you turn, what will you say, as he surveys your life and decides on your final, eternal destiny?

In his poem ‘Judgement,’ George Herbert gives a wonderful, gospel-centered answer. I recommend that you make it yours.

Almighty Judge, how shall poor wretches brook Thy dreadful look,
Able a heart of iron to appall, When thou shalt call For ev’ry man’s peculiar book?

What others mean to do, I know not well; Yet I hear tell,
That some will turn thee to some leaves therein, So void of sin, That they in merit shall excel.

But I resolve, when thou shalt call for mine, That to decline,
And thrust a Testament into thy hand; Let that be scann’d, There thou shalt find my faults are thine.

Has Jesus taken your faults?

Isaiah 53.5: ‘But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.’

2 Corinthians 5.21: ‘For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.’

How can man stand in the presence of a Holy God?Jesus took my sins and died in my place. “It is finished, He said”.I did not get what I deserved. I received His grace and mercy.Yes, Jesus has taken my faults and He is faithful to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.May I cling to the Vine.
